31848773Quick, simple, and to the point here folks.

Leaping Hearts by J.R. Ward takes place before her other novel Heart of Gold.  Good, easy, simple story.  I liked the characters, and the way things left off at the end.

Here we are introduced to debutante A.J. Sutherland who loves horses with a fiery passion and is really naive and compulsive.  She buys an energetic, gorgeous, and some would say violent thoroughbred stallion with the intent of making him a show jumping champion.  But alas and alack, once she buys the horse, she is forcibly kicked out of her happy home and has to crash on the couch of former jumping champion Devlin who lost his horse and almost his leg the year before.

Devlin’s out of the professional show jumping circuit after falling so badly his leg had to be put back together like Humpty Dumpty and his horse had to be euthanized on the field.  But when A.J. shows up on his doorstep one night with stallion in tow he finds himself drawn in -almost- against his will.

Now what do you think would happen in this kind of situation?  Well we all know they shack up together, fight with each other, and make up so lets move on.

Nothing new or exciting here folks, but I really like the character development in A.J.  A.J. is one step away from being the spoiled little rick girl, and in time she realizes it.  She’s never had to pay for a single thing out of her own pocket all her life, and while everything she goes through in this book isn’t necessarily good, it is needed for her to grow up emotionally and start taking care of herself, by herself.  A.J. also has a step brother that she practically loathes and they butt heads throughout the whole book until almost the very end.  Thankfully, as part of her growing up, A.J. sees what harm all of their arguments have cost them individually and as siblings and goes out of her way to try and fix things.  Thankfully stepbrother Peter is willing to meet her at least halfway and by the end of the book they’re on amicable speaking terms when before they avoided each other like the plague.

Enjoy folks.

Next time, the long promised Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James

10818853When literature student Anastasia Steele goes to interview young entrepreneur Christian Grey, she encounters a man who is beautiful, brilliant, and intimidating. The unworldly, innocent Ana is startled to realize she wants this man and, despite his enigmatic reserve, finds she is desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana’s quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her, too—but on his own terms.

Shocked yet thrilled by Grey’s singular erotic tastes, Ana hesitates. For all the trappings of success—his multinational businesses, his vast wealth, his loving family—Grey is a man tormented by demons and consumed by the need to control. When the couple embarks on a daring, passionately physical affair, Ana discovers Christian Grey’s secrets and explores her own dark desires.

Erotic, amusing, and deeply moving, the Fifty Shades Trilogy is a tale that will obsess you, possess you, and stay with you forever.
