12226318It’s amazing the kind of trouble a simple adventuring troupe can get into.

I picked this up one afternoon at work during the 2012 Christmas rush and was able to breeze through it on my breaks.  Quite the fun little story.

Here we are once again ladies and gents with Fell’s Five, the group we first met in Shadowplague, and of course they’re up to their old tricks of dungeon delving, secret keeping, sleight of hand, and pissing off the wrong people.

In this second installment of the series, Adric Fell and his band are transported to the Feywild where they are given a task by an Eldrich lord (think really snooty/magically powerful elf) to defeat a mad giant called a Formeian.  And this Eldrich lord just so happens to be the father of Adric’s Elvin love.  Not complicated at all.

So that is the official story of First Encounters, but it’s not the real story.

The real story is actually how Adric managed to wrangle up his motley crew and join them together in some semblance of camaraderie in order to get their jobs done.

Full of as much humor as the first one Shadowplague, First Encounters was a fun read.  It even has the added bonus of a dwarf reciting love poetry to a dryad.  Seriously, it happens.  Check it out for yourself.

Enjoy folks.
