1611656As much as I love my paranormal romance, sometimes there’s not a lot to say about them.

Dark Deeds at Night’s Edge is the latest in the Immortals After Dark series by Kresley Cole that I’ve tackled to date.  We’re introduced to yet another vampire of the Wroth family who gets shacked up with the ghost of a prima ballerina from the 1920s I believe it was,

And of course at first they have all the issues you would think existed between a corporal and non-corporal lovers.  I mean, ok, you might be able to fall in love with a ghost, but it’s pretty damn frustrating if you have a lover you can’t bloody well touch.

I do however like the solution to the problem.  Mariketa the Awaited makes an appearance and turns our little ghostling into a creature of the Lore, against all the rules and regulations that her-species I guess?-have in regards to using their magic.  So now not only to the lovers have a chance to be together, but now they have a secret they must keep for the rest of their lives if they want to protect themselves and well as the friend to risked so much to save them.

I just wish they would move along  a little bit in the storyline.  Everyone is hinting at something called the Awakening if I remember correctly, and it’s essentially supposed to be this big event that culls all the races of the Lore.  It makes sense when you think about it.  Immortal races that continuously breed to make more of themselves, you need something to keep them in check to make sure they don’t overpopulate.  But this thing keeps getting reference and no one is really giving out any information on it so it’s a tad frustrating.

Ah well.  I’m sure the grand scheme of things will make itself known sooner or later.

Just picked up the most recent installment of Shannon K. Butcher’s Sentinel Wars series Falling Blind, so guess what we got next on the chopping block?
