19857So a little bit longer than expected to finish this one out, and just because it was so epic.  Evermeet Island of Elves by Elaine Cunningham is basically THE history of the elven races and their homelands within the Forgotten Realms world.

Literally, I would read a chapter and have to put the book down for half the day just to absorb everything I learned. From the battles among the gods that lead to the creation of the Drow pantheon and the birth of Lloth herself, basically right up to the present day of the Realms world, we follow the lives of elves millenia old as well as their descendants as they work towards what they feel would be the betterment of the elven race as a whole.

We’re also given a lovely little surprise in regards to some other famous Realms characters, such as Khelban Blackstaff and his Chosen wife Laurel.

And what a doozy that was…

So apologies for the tardiness of this update, but then you have the history of an entire race laid out before you, it’s not something you want to rush through.

Taking a littel break from the realms to check out the first book in the Diablo Sin Wars series by Richard A Knaak: Birthright.  Hey, after a month and a half of Realms I’m allowed  a wee break…

8178Since the beginning of time, the angelic forces of the High Heavens and the demonic hordes of the Burning Hells have been locked in an eternal conflict for the fate of all Creation. That struggle has now spilled over into Sanctuary — the world of men. Determined to win mankind over to their respective causes, the forces of good and evil wage a secret war for mortal souls. This is the tale of the Sin War — the conflict that would forever change the destiny of man.

Three thousand years before the darkening of Tristram, Uldyssian, son of Diomedes, was a simple farmer from the village of Seram. Content with his quiet, idyllic life, Uldyssian is shocked as dark events rapidly unfold around him. Mistakenly blamed for the grisly murders of two traveling missionaries, Uldyssian is forced to flee his homeland and set out on a perilous quest to redeem his good name. To his horror, he has begun to manifest strange new powers — powers no mortal man has ever dreamed of. Now, Uldyssian must grapple with the energies building within him — lest they consume the last vestiges of his humanity.
