7098304Whep.  Now we know what the humans are up to, capturing all the immortals.

Apparently, this secret organization called The Order has it in their heads that all the Lorekind wants to wipe out humanity so every 500 years when the Ascension rears it’s ugly head they go on the offensive.  Only this time rather than trying to kill the creatures of lore, they’re studying and vivisecting them to see what makes each species tick and discover their weaknesses.

Capturing males and females of all races, singles, young, and fated/mated pairs, the Order confines them to a facility on an island, performing experiments on their ever living text subjects.

Until Carrow. A witch of three castes, Carrow wears a torque that nullifies her abilities like all the other creatures held captive, but she’s sent to capture and bring back Malcom Slaine, a creature half vampire, half demon.  And selling Malcom into slavery and a life of experimentation is the only way Carrow can save herself-an her new adopted daughter.

Most of this is Carrow and Malcom rebuilding trust after she betrays him, and the facility gets wiped off the map after a certain ancient mummified evil we recently read about shows up with her pack of Wendigoes.

Think I’mma do a wee marathon and try to finish this series off.  It’s really getting good…
