Shifting Shadows

And just when we thought we were done with Mercy and friends for a while…

Shifting Shadows is an anthology of stories from Mercy’s world dealing with characters we met briefly or were referred to within the series.

We see Samuel and Ariana’s backstory.  How she came by her scars  and how they first fell in love.

Also the odd symbiotic relationship between an earth bound fae and an earth bound vampire and how each saves the other.

A vampire still in love and regretting her first kill returns to the home they shared before she was turned and where she killed him.

A werewolf turns to a blind white witch for help finding his brother, and you can see the beginnings of a romance here, possibly even a spin off series or returning characters.

The short story of Charles and Anna that was the premise for the entire Alpha and Omega series.

Our mercenary werewolf David get his own Christmas story and a chance to reunite with his estranged daughter when she asks him to help her save a young boy.

We’re given an update on young Kara, a wolf turned at 10yrs old and chained up in her parents basement during full moons until the Marrok takes her in.

A side story about Kyle, Warren, and love scorned witch with a penchant for raising the dead.

And finally a Mercy story!  Called in to hunt ghosts again, this time a half fae with reverse Oedipus complex. Creepy.

All in all a fun, easy, must read for fans of Mercy Thompson.  And I promise that is all for her right now.  I’ll be moving on to Alpha and Omega soon, but first we’re going to visit the Noble Dead saga again with A Wind in the Night next.
