155421So this is actually the second time I have read Something from the Nightside.  I decided it was high time I started going through the rest of the series, but first I had to re read the first books to I knew what the heck was going on.

I have a feeling when I get to book two, Agents of Light and Darkness, I’ll realize re reading this was kinda pointless, but I doubt I’ll care because it was still a good read.

Something from the Nightside introduces us to John Taylor, a man with a special gift for finding things and a past kept hidden even from him.  Hunted for most of his life for reasons unknown to him, John leaves the Nightside for the normalcy of London.

Now Nightside is much like Neil Gaiman’s Neverwhere. in that anything can happen to anyone traveling from any time to anyplace.  Truth, lies, past, present, future, gods, demons, life and death all exist and live together with each other in the Nightside.  A place connected yet always separate from London.  And John manages to stay away for five years before being drawn back in to find and rescue a supposed runaway.

But John of all people should remember that nothing is as it seems in the Nightside, and your best friend is often also your worst enemy.

Quick read, but fun nevertheless.  I’ll definitely be continuing on, after a quick side trip to the Realms again. Tymora’s Luck, book #3 of the Lost Gods trilogy, eighth book for Ja No Read Mo.

291712Before the Dawn Cataclysm, Moander the Darkbringer corrupted Tyche, Goddess of Luck. In a desperate attempt to preserve Tyche’s goodness, the gods clove her in twain, creating two daughter goddesses: Tymora, Lady Luck; and Beshaba, Lady Doom. In the eons since then, the two sisters have existed in total enmity.

Now a great power has hatched a mad scheme to re-create the goddess Tyche by reuniting Tymora and Beshaba, regardless of the potentially calamitous consequences.
In a decision fraught with godly intrigue, Joel, the Rebel Bard, priest of Finder, is chosen to uncover whoever is behind the abduction of the sister goddesses. Aided by his old allies, Holly Harrowslough and Jas, and his new friend, the kender Emilo Haversack, Joel must find a way to prevent the merger of Tymora and Beshaba before disaster overtakes the luckless Realms.
