148213Not really a lot to say about this one folks.  Our sometimes reluctant hero John Taylor is hired by a concerned father to look into the welfare of the Nightside’s latest singing sensation.

Lots of headbanging, explosions, bribes, and muscle flexing later, and it turns out she’s been poisoned and held on the cusp of life and death by one of the big names in the Nightsie.  John frees her, saves her, and finds out her father died years ago and John was hired by a ghost.

Several other interesting things happen, but you have to read the book because it would just take too long to tell you here.  The one thing that was really interesting and seemed to be the big takeaway is that we finally figure out who has been hunting him.

Turns out there’s a possible futire where life as everyone knows it is wiped out because John went looking for is mother.  The particulars beyond that are a little hazy, but turns out several frenemies from the future are using the bodies of dead comrades to create hommunculi called the Harrowing, sending them into the past to kill John to ensure their future/present/what have you never happens,

So now John not only have to worry aobut people killing him in the present, but he’s also got to keep an eye on the future.

Lets see where that future takes him.  Hex and the City, fourth in the Nightside series and eleventh for Ja No Read Mo.
