22719550Everything starts somewhere.  Every story, every war, has a beginning and – hopefully – an end.  And her in Dragonbane we see the truth behind how the war between the Akadians and the Katagari Were Hunters came to be.

A war that, as is often the case, was started by love.

Albeit here it is the love of a father to save his sons that were cursed through no fault of their own.

In an attempt to save his sons, the king their father joins their souls with animals, creating the first Katagari (the animals who were joined with a human soul) and Akadian (the humans who were joined with an animal soul). Both of the princes were of course Akadians.  But when one brother becomes jelous of the other, kills him then blames a Katagari dragon, the Akadians and humans believe him of course, and despite knowing the truth, the other Katagari use him has a scapegoat. Condeming him to appease their own hurts and the blood lust of the Akadians in an attempt to put their traumatic experiences behind them as quickly as possible.

And so it came to be that the Katagari dragon known as Maxis, now Dragonbane, went to ground in the Peltier house and lived there quietly is not happily until his centuries lost mate came to him, begging him to save the children he never knew he had.

Ahhh!!! Chills!!! Loved this one.  So satisfying and Gratifying to finally get to the source of it all.

And I think i got one more romance book in me right now.  We got the latest in the Immortals After Dark series by Kresley Cole, Sweet Ruin, next.
