For Those in the Know…

I am an avid reader, especially of the Forgotten Realms series -hence the name Forgotten Realms Queen- and fantasy in general.  Terry Brooks, R.A. Salvatore, and Jaqueline Carey are my fantasy gods.  I also read a lot of fiction, mostly historical/archeological, and sadly I have jumped onto the vampire romance bandwagon.  NOT TWILIGHT!  As I say I do the good kind of vampire romance.  I guess it would technically be classified as urban paranormal.

And when I say I’m a queen of the Realms, I mean it.  To date I only need about 30 of the 200+ Realms books that have ever been published since 1983, and I have read just over half of what I own.  There is very little about the Realms that I do not know.

I consider myself a creative and hands on person as have most likely tried my hand at least once at most every type of craft/creative past time there is.  I sketch, I paint, I write, I’ve done some paper crafts, but my crafting inspiration and passion lies in cross stitching.

I enjoy music, especially of the punk rock genre.  I am a gamer girl, largley console and computer RPGs like Dragon Age, Diablo, and I lost my soul to the Neverwinter Nights franchise for a few years.  But I have LARP‘d on occasion and I RP with a group of people on a regular basis.  I’ve done a Game of Thrones, Scion, Exalted, and Legend of the Five Rings campaigns, and so far Scion is my favorite.  Who wouldn’t to find out they’re the child of a god?  My character has her own band of Amazons following her for greater glory…

I’m into Anime little bit, and often the darker the better.  I love Hellsing and FMA, but I also enjoy Trinity Blood, Escaflowne, and other various odd and sods series that have been introduced to me through friends and family.

For those interested in this kind of thing, I am not religious, but I am spiritual.  I’m NOT saying this to start a debate or anything of the sort, but I will most likely make reference at some point in time to this, so best to get this out there now.  No surprises later right?

I’m also the good kind of crazy cat lady.  I live with four cats, so don’t be surprised if they make an appearance once in a while.

When I first started this blog it was intended to be a place for me to put my twisted view of the world out there for anyone interested once a week.  I fell in and out of it for a while because I wanted it strictly to be a personal blog, and well…that didn’t work out so well.  No one was interested except the boyfriend.

I think that was more obligatory too….

And while I still do that, post my rants, ramblings, and points of view, I see a change coming here.

I’m noticing a lot of book/game reviews and fan fiction/personal writings taking over here, and I’m ok with that.  I am a borderline bibliophile the the reviews only make sense, I love to write when the mood strikes me, and if people like what I write, so much the better!  And having my soul permanently up for rent to the latest console RPG,  game reviews make sense too.

As a result, I have a lot more to talk about, and have begun posting more often.  What was intending to be a once a week thing, has now turned into a 3 times a week thing.  It seems like Sundays are permanently reserved for my creative writings, with two additional posts on whatever I feel like sharing Wednesdays and Saturdays.

I think people are liking the change so far because I’m noticing a rise in visitors, especially with my creative writing.  I try and edit as thoroughly as I can before I post, but if I notice any oopsies after, I will fix them and make a notation for those who care about things like that.

See! I’m a considerate person too.

And yes, once upon a time I was that kind of person who was doing everything in their power to accumulate the stats on their blog for visitors and the like.  Visiting other bloggers, linking to sites, etc etc.  Now, not so much.  I figure if people are interested in what I have going on here, they’ll find me eventually.

This is a continuing work in progress.  I am fairly new to the blogosphere despite having this site for over a year, and I will tweak the site to suit as I find the tips and tricks to do so.  As a result of this, some of my categories, pages, links, etc., will be a tad on the light side.  But if you want  to, keep track and slowly but surely we’ll see them fill out more and more.

Long story short, here I am for better or for worse.  If you like what you see, by all means pull up a chair and kick around for a while.  If not, thanks for dropping by and I hope you find something that better suits whatever you’re searching for.

Hello. I saw you post your blog on Goodreads. You sound nerdy and suitably mental but in the best possible way.

Have you ever heard of the Dragonlance series of books? They are similar to Forgotten Realms in the sense that they are all set in a shared world. I think some authors have written books for both Dragonlance and FR, with some characters crossed over for one-off stories.

If you like Bioware RPG games you might like Baldurs Gate 2 and maybe even Planescape: Torment. They are very old so the graphics are horrible but the stories are excellent.

Did you ever play tabletop Dungeons and Dragons? This is a great spoof of it:

Heh,yeah I’ve played tabletop RPGs, just not D&D…yet…

I actually have read the first trilogy of Dragonlance, and while I liked it I was never able to continue on with the series. I just kinda got sidetracked and now I have too many books in the works to go back to them now. I hope to one day. And yes, I have all the Baldur’s Gate series on PC and on PS2, although I have yet to play the PC ones as I just got them recently for a birthday present and haven’t had the time to play them yet. I even managed to get my grubby little hands on a copy of the Icewind Dale series for the PC. SO looking forward to that one… 😀
