Writer’s Devotional

Back in April 2012, I started a writer’s devotional to give me a bit of a helping hand. I enjoy writing, and had found that I was struggling with ideas on what to write, as well as my writing process.  So I picked up The Writers Devotional: 365 Inspirational Exercises, Ideas, Tips and Motivations on Writing, by Amy Peters.

Each day in this devotional is dedicated to a different aspect of writing::

  • Mondays are for ‘Writers on Writing’, learning what the best of the best have to say about their craft.
  • Tuesdays are for ‘Motivation’, tips and tricks to keep you motivated and help you through blocks
  • Wednesdays are ‘Writing Class’, where you experiment with different styles of writing
  • Thursdays are for ‘Editing’, and understanding all that goes into it
  • Fridays are ‘Biographies’ on some of the greatest writers of our time
  • Saturdays are basically reading assignments, books that every writer should read
  • Sundays are ‘Writing Prompts’, you’re given a sentence and you use it as a springboard

I decided to catalog some of my journey through the devotional as I will be writing more original works with this as inspiration, as well as perhaps to help anyone else who’s going through a tough time with their writing.  I’m limiting my postings on this to what I actually write based on that day’s inspiration, as I only post 3 days a week and I don’t want this blog to become a devotional one.  There’s other stuff I want to get out there you know.  😀

Other than that, enjoy folks.

Edit:  I’ve done quite a few drafts but haven’t posted enough of them, so in an attempt to help me keep track of what I’ve done and need to post, I’m listing all the writing classes and prompts as I come across them, and hopefully I’ll get through my backlog soon.  Thanks for your patience.  🙂
