30982I was both excited and hesitant to start this book.  After reading the Book of Cain I had an itch to finish the Diablo books I had as well as play the original Diablo games again.  But I remembered the first book of the Sin Wars, Birthright, as difficult to get through.

And in some was it was easier as well as just as hard.

We move further along in the story with our heroes moving against the Triune, all the while their powers and followers growing exponentially.  However Ulysian’s idea of accepting all, no matter their past or the shadows on their heart proves detrimental as Lilith, in the guise of his former childhood sweetheart, uses them against him as her own personal guard.

But all is not lost , as the war against the Triune slowly yet surely progresses with Ulyssian and his followers taking down several of the larger and more prominent of the Triune’s temples.

Ulyssian’s brother looks behind the curtain a wee bit here as well as he’s pulled into conference with a celestial dragon and one of the original nephalim.

I’m still wishy washy on this series.  Each book has some good points, unfortunately surrounded by really slow and boring parts so I think I’ll have to put this aside for a good long while…

So! Let’s see what the next round of Forgotten Realms has in store shall we? Magehound, first in the Counsellors and Kings trilogy by Elaine Cunningham.

291480Matteo, un-magical counselor to the mighty of Halruaa, has devoted his life to the truth — until he finds that he may have a hidden spark of magic after all. Now, with only a street waif for a companion, he’s on the run from the mysterious Cabal. In the dismal Swamp of Akhlaur, Matteo will seek his own truth while battling a creature out of his nightmares.

But something even worse is on his trail: a relentless persecutor of magic. The Magehound.
